Your plan lives in **Settings → Billing & usage**. Only the account owner sees it: the person whose plan pays for the websites. Upgrades apply right away; downgrades and cancellations wait until the period you already paid for ends, so you never lose time you paid for.

## At a glance

| Change | When it applies | What you pay |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Higher plan (Starter → Growth) | Right away | The prorated difference for the rest of this period, charged now |
| Higher traffic tier | Right away | The prorated difference, charged now |
| Monthly → yearly | Right away | The yearly price for the rest of your billing year, minus the unused part of this month |
| Lower plan (Growth → Starter) | At the end of this period | Nothing now; the lower price from the next period |
| Lower traffic tier | At the end of this period | Nothing now; the lower price from the next period |
| Yearly → monthly | At the end of your yearly period | Nothing now; monthly from then |
| Cancel | At the end of this period | Nothing more |

A change that lowers anything counts as a downgrade, even if it raises something else. For example, Growth with 100k events to Starter with 1M events lowers the plan, so it waits for the period end. To get the bigger tier now, upgrade the tier first and change the plan later.

## Upgrade

1. **Choose the new plan**

In Settings → Billing & usage, pick the plan, traffic tier and billing interval, then select **Review change** or **Switch to** on the plan card.

2. **Check the amount**

You see the new price and the exact amount due now: the difference between the two plans for the days left in this period. Coupons on your subscription are applied to it.

3. **Confirm**

The card on file is charged straight away. The new limits apply as soon as the payment goes through. If the payment is declined or needs extra authentication, nothing changes: you stay on your current plan and nothing is charged. Update your card under **Invoices and payment** and try again.

> **Note:** A preview is valid for 15 minutes. If your plan changes in the meantime, for example from another browser tab, the confirm is refused and you're asked to review the change again. Confirming twice never charges twice.

## Downgrade

Choose the lower plan or tier the same way. Instead of an amount, you see the date it takes effect: the end of your current billing period. Nothing is charged or credited now. Until that date you keep your current plan and all of its limits; from then on you pay the new price and get the new limits.

While a downgrade is scheduled, the Plan card shows **Changes to Starter (100k) on** the date, with **Cancel scheduled change** to stay on your current plan.

| If you then… | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| Choose another downgrade | It replaces the scheduled one. Only one change is scheduled at a time. |
| Upgrade | The scheduled downgrade is dropped and the upgrade applies right away, with its prorated charge. |
| Cancel your plan | The scheduled downgrade is dropped; the plan ends at the period end. |
| Select Cancel scheduled change | You stay on your current plan and it renews as usual. |

## Monthly and yearly

Yearly costs ten monthly payments. Switching from monthly to yearly is an upgrade and applies right away. Your billing year runs from the day your subscription started, so you pay the yearly price for the rest of that year, minus the unused part of your current month. Switching from yearly to monthly is a downgrade: your yearly period runs to its end, then monthly billing starts.

On either interval, your event allowance resets every month on the same day and time, so a yearly plan includes the monthly allowance each month rather than twelve months to use at once. Switching interval doesn't move your reset date.

## Cancel and resume

Select **Cancel plan** on the Plan card and confirm, or cancel from **Invoices and payment** (Stripe's billing page). Either way the plan is cancelled at the end of the period you paid for: the Plan card shows **Cancels on** the date, and nothing more is charged.

Until that date you can select **Resume plan** and it renews as if nothing happened. While a cancellation is scheduled you can't change plans; resume first. After the date, choose a plan again to start a new subscription.

## What happens to your data and limits

| Situation | Tracking and limits |
| --- | --- |
| Downgrade scheduled | Your current limits stay until the change date. |
| After a downgrade | The new event allowance applies from the next usage cycle. Websites and team members you already have are kept; you can't add more than the new plan allows. |
| Cancellation scheduled | Everything keeps working until the cancel date. |
| After the plan ends | Tracking pauses. Your data, reports, share links and embeds stay available, and choosing a plan resumes tracking. |
| A renewal payment fails | Stripe retries the card. Your limits stay for up to 14 days from the renewal; after that tracking pauses until the invoice is paid. Paying it restores your plan right away. |

Nothing is deleted when you downgrade or cancel. See [pricing](https://metricraven.com/pricing) for what each plan includes.

## Invoices and payment method

Select **Invoices and payment** on the Plan card to open Stripe's billing page. There you can download every invoice and receipt, including the prorated invoices from upgrades, and change the card you pay with.

## Details

- The free trial is granted once, when you create your account, and doesn't need a card. Cancelling a plan during the trial leaves you with what is left of that trial; subscribing again never starts a new one.
- Prorations are calculated by Stripe to the second, from the moment you confirm.
- Downgrades never create a credit: you keep what you paid for until the period ends instead.
- The 10M+ tier isn't sold online. Contact us to move to it or away from it.
- Only the account owner can change, cancel or resume a plan. Admins and viewers see usage on each website but not billing.
