Keep your history when you switch. MetricRaven imports Plausible's daily totals and shows them in your reports for the days before MetricRaven tracking started, labelled as imported.

## Option A: upload a Plausible export

1. **Export from Plausible's site settings**

In Plausible, open your site's **Site settings → Imports & exports** and choose **Export data**. Plausible emails a download link when the ZIP is ready. The CSV download on the Plausible dashboard is a different file and can't be imported.

2. **Upload the ZIP**

In MetricRaven, open **Settings → Integrations → Import from Plausible**, keep **Export ZIP**, choose the file and select **Import ZIP**. ZIPs up to 50 MB are accepted; for a larger site, export a shorter period and import each part.

## Option B: connect the Stats API

1. **Create a Stats API key**

In Plausible, open **Account settings → API keys** and create a **Stats API** key.

2. **Paste it into MetricRaven**

In **Settings → Integrations → Import from Plausible**, choose **Stats API key**, enter your Plausible site domain (for example `example.com`) and the key, and select **Import from API**. Self-hosting Plausible? Enter its https address too.

The key is stored encrypted, used only for this import and for **Re-import**, and deleted when you undo the import.

The card shows progress while the import runs. Most imports finish within a few minutes; you can leave the page.

## What is imported

| Plausible | In MetricRaven |
| --- | --- |
| Visitors, visits, pageviews, bounces, visit duration | Traffic totals and the chart (daily, weekly and monthly views) |
| Sources and referrers | Channels (classified like live traffic) and referrer hosts |
| UTM source, medium, campaign, term, content | The matching UTM lists |
| Pages and entry pages | Pages and entry pages |
| Countries | Countries (regions and cities are not imported) |
| Devices, browsers, operating systems | Devices, browsers and operating systems, renamed to MetricRaven's names |

Not imported: custom events, goals and custom properties (set up [goals](https://metricraven.com/docs/goals-funnels) again in MetricRaven), exit pages, regions and cities. Plausible exports only contain daily totals, so imported days have no individual visits, journeys or revenue attribution.

## How imported days appear

- Imported days are added only before the day MetricRaven tracking started, so nothing is counted twice even if both tools ran together.
- Traffic reports that include them show **Includes imported Plausible data** with the imported dates. Totals such as visitors add up daily visitors, as Plausible does for its own imports.
- Reports with filters, hourly charts, revenue, goals, funnels and the visitor explorer use MetricRaven data only.
- **All time** starts at your first imported day.

## Re-import and undo

Importing again (a new ZIP, or **Re-import** with the saved API key) replaces the previous import once the new one finishes. If it fails, the previous import stays. **Undo import** removes all imported days and the saved key; your own MetricRaven data is never changed.

> **Note:** Imported days never count towards your plan's monthly events. History is imported as far back as your plan's data retention: 3 years on Starter, 10 on Growth.

## Details

- Imports need an admin or owner of the site. Viewers see the import status only.
- Days use the timezone of your Plausible site. Reports in another timezone place each imported day on that calendar date.
- The API import reads Plausible's own first-hand data, not data you previously imported into Plausible. Plausible's API allows 600 requests an hour; a large site uses a few dozen.
- An import that was interrupted (for example by a deploy) shows as interrupted; start it again.
