See when people talk about you on X and Reddit, next to the traffic and revenue those posts bring.

> **Note:** Mentions are part of the Growth plan. Starter shows a preview with an upgrade link.

## How it works

- Once a week MetricRaven searches X and Reddit for your website's domain and the keywords you add. Your domain is always tracked; you don't need to add it.
- Each post appears on the traffic chart as its author's picture on that day's point. Hover a day to see its posts; click a picture to read them in full with likes, reposts and replies (X) or score and comments (Reddit).
- Reddit search is fuzzy, so a post is kept only when its title, text or link contains your domain or a keyword as a whole word.
- The chart's mention dialog has a **Show mentions on chart** switch and X / Reddit checkboxes. They are remembered in your browser.

## Add keywords

1. **Open Settings → Integrations → X and Reddit**

   Choose the **Mentions** tab.

2. **Add brand words, @handles or #hashtags**

For example `MetricRaven`, `@metricraven` or `#BuildInPublic`. One list is used for both X and Reddit.

3. **Wait for the weekly check, or choose Check now**

Check now runs once a day per website. New posts appear on the chart after the check finishes.

## Keyword rules

| Rule | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Length | 4–15 characters, up to 10 keywords. |
| Matching | Case-insensitive, whole words: raven does not match ravenous. |
| Handles | Start with @ to find posts that mention an X account. |
| Avoid generic words | Words like analytics or software bring noise and use up the monthly X allowance. |

## Traffic spikes

On every plan, days when one source sends far more visitors than usual get the source's icon at the top of the chart. The day's tooltip explains it, for example *5.6× more traffic than usual from X*. A day counts as a spike when a source brings at least 10 visitors, 2.5 times its median over the previous 14 days, and at least 15% of the day's visitors.

## API, MCP and CLI

Read stored mentions with [GET /api/v1/stats/mentions](https://metricraven.com/docs/reports-api#mentions), the MCP tool `list_mentions` or `metricraven mentions`. They never start a new search.

## Details

- X search covers the last 7 days, so the first check finds posts from the past week.
- Each website collects up to 500 X posts a month. Once reached, X resumes next month; Reddit continues.
- Retweets are skipped. Likes and other numbers are refreshed when a later check finds the post again.
- Want to know which tweets sent visitors? See [X link attribution](https://metricraven.com/docs/x-link-attribution).
