Attribute every channel
Track revenue from YouTube videos
Find out whether your videos sell, not just how many people watch.
Updated · 1 min read
Videos take a lot of work, and YouTube Studio tells you views, watch time and clicks. It can't tell you whether those clicks turned into customers. For that you need your site's analytics and your payments in the same place.
Why this matters
If one tutorial brings paying customers every week and a polished launch video brings none, that should shape your next video. Revenue per video also helps you decide whether YouTube deserves more of your time than writing or social posts, and which topics to film next.
Why most analytics tools can't tell you
Views and clicks stay inside YouTube. Your analytics tool sees a visit from youtube.com, but usually not which video it came from, and not whether the visitor paid a week later.
How MetricRaven does it
MetricRaven records youtube.com as a referrer in the Social channel and credits each payment to the customer's first tracked visit. Add UTM tags to the links in each video's description, such as utm_source=youtube and utm_campaign=video-name, and every video gets its own row with visitors and revenue.
Referrers with revenue

How to do it
- Connect a payment provider so revenue is attributed to visits (Connect Stripe).
- Tag the link in each video description with UTM parameters (Campaign & referral links).
- Open Traffic → Acquisition → Referrer and sort by revenue to see YouTube as a whole.
- Open the Campaign tab and pick
utm_campaignto compare videos by revenue. - Click a video's row to filter and see which pages those viewers landed on.
Use the same tag spelling every time: YouTube and youtube are different values. A short naming convention saves a lot of cleanup.
