Find the tweets that drive sales

Match posts on X with the visitors and revenue they sent.

Updated · 1 min read

A post takes off and your traffic jumps. A week later you post something similar and nothing happens. To learn what works on X, you need to see each post next to the visitors and money it brought.

Why this matters

Building in public, launch threads and replies all compete for your time. When you can see that one thread brought ten customers and your daily updates brought none, you know what to write more of. It also shows which people talking about you send buyers.

Why most analytics tools can't tell you

X wraps every link in a t.co short link, so analytics tools show a pile of t.co visits with no idea which post they came from. Posts that mention you without a link never show up at all.

How MetricRaven does it

MetricRaven keeps the t.co link of each visit from X and matches it to the post that contains it, so the Referrer list shows the post, its author, visitors and revenue. Once a week it also searches X and Reddit for your domain and keywords and places each mention on the traffic chart as the author's picture. Both features are part of the Growth plan; other plans still see each t.co link with its numbers.

How to do it

  1. Connect a payment provider so revenue is attributed to visits (Connect Stripe).
  2. Open Traffic → Acquisition → Referrer, click X and read the posts that sent visitors (X link attribution).
  3. In Settings → Integrations → X and Reddit, add brand keywords and handles (X and Reddit mentions).
  4. Hover a picture on the traffic chart to read the post, then compare the days around it.

Add accounts whose profile links to your site under Link attribution, so visits through a link in bio show as that account.
