Features
GitHub commits on your chart
On this page
Connect one GitHub repository per website. Its commits appear on the traffic chart, so you can see what you shipped right before traffic or revenue changed.
Connect a repository
Open site settings → GitHub
Enter the repository as owner/name or paste its GitHub URL. Leave the branch empty to use the default branch.
Add a token for private repositories
On GitHub, create a fine-grained personal access token with access to that one repository and the read-only Contents permission. Paste it in the Access token field. Public repositories work without a token.
Wait for the import
The last 90 days of commits import within a minute. New commits appear on their own afterwards.
What MetricRaven reads
| Data | Used for |
|---|---|
| Commit message and type | The chart tooltip, and filtering by conventional-commit type such as feat: or fix:. |
| Author name, username and avatar | Who shipped it. |
| Time and branch | Placing the commit on the chart. |
| Lines added and removed | The size of the change (with a token only). |
Your source code is never read or stored.
See every commit
Hovering a day lists its newest commits. Click a commit marker to open all of its commits, grouped by day, with search and links to GitHub, or use View all commits in the chart toolbar for the whole period.
Choose which commits show
The commits button in the chart toolbar hides the markers or keeps only some types, for example features and fixes. Types come from conventional commit prefixes such as feat: and fix(api):; commits without one are listed as Other. Your choice is remembered in this browser.
From the API
curl 'https://metricraven.com/api/v1/commits?site=YOUR_SITE_ID&range=all&type=feat,fix' \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $METRICRAVEN_TOKEN"Details
- With a token, MetricRaven checks for new commits every 10 minutes; without one, every 30 minutes.
- Changing the repository or branch replaces the imported history. Disconnecting removes it.
- Commits are private to your team: share links and embeds never show them.
- Tokens are encrypted at rest. To revoke access, delete the token on GitHub or
Disconnectin settings.
