Features
Realtime visitors
On this page
The realtime view shows the visitors active on your site in the last five minutes: where they are, what they are reading, where they came from and what they just did.
Open realtime
In Traffic, the Online tile in Traffic overview counts the visitors active in the last five minutes. Click it, or Open realtime globe in the live card further down, to open the globe. On phones, use the floating realtime button with the live dot.
The live card itself shows the same count, a bar chart of the last 30 minutes and, under Recent visitors & activity, the active visitors and their latest pageviews, goals and payments.
Globe and map
Each marker is a place with active visitors; bigger markers mean more people there. The panel in the top left shows how many visitors are on your site now. The toolbar next to it has these controls:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Replay | Plays back the last 8 hours (see below). Click again to return to live. |
| Globe / flat map | Switches between the 3D globe and a flat world map. |
| Map style | Solid, Dots or Outline land. Your choice is remembered in this browser. |
| Auto-rotate | Turns the globe slowly and flies to new activity as it arrives. |
| Visitor list | A text list of everyone active, with the same details as the markers. |
| Full screen | Fills the whole screen with the globe. |
Click a marker to see who is there: their device, browser and operating system, the page they are on and the source they came from. Members of the website can click a visitor to open their journey, as in the visitor explorer.
Filter by referrer, country or device
Under the visitor count, Referrers, Countries and Devices list what the people online have in common, with a count for each. Click one to show only those visitors on the map, in the list and in the feed; click it again to remove it. Filters combine, and each row counts within the filters picked in the others. Clear filters removes them all. These filters only apply to realtime, never to your reports.
Live activity feed
The bottom left corner shows the latest activity as it happens: pageviews, goals and payments, newest at the bottom. Click an item to jump to that visitor on the globe. New visits appear on their own; there is nothing to refresh.
Replay the last 8 hours
Replay steps through the last 8 hours in 15-minute windows. Press play to watch them in order, or drag the slider to a window; the bars above it show how busy each one was. For the window shown, the panel lists how many visitors were active and its top referrers, countries and devices. Replay shows approximate locations and counts only, not individual visitors, so the visitor list is off while it runs.
Value of the visitors online
When your site has revenue, the count reads, for example, 12 visitors on Acme (est. value: $86). The estimate is the number of visitors online times your revenue per visitor over the last 30 days: net revenue in the report currency divided by the visitors in those 30 days. Only payments in that currency count, and without revenue in it there is no estimate. Hover the value to see the numbers behind it.
From the API
The same data is available with a secret key or an account token: GET /stats/live for visitors online and recent activity, GET /stats/live/replay for the 15-minute windows and GET /stats/live/value for revenue per visitor.
Details
- Realtime covers the last five minutes, refreshes every 15 seconds and ignores the report's dates and filters.
- Locations are approximate IP locations rounded to 0.1° (Cloudflare and DB-IP). Visitors without a location still count toward the total.
- On busy sites the globe, filters and list use the 500 most recently active visitors; the total still counts everyone.
- Realtime is private to the website's members: share links and embeds don't include it. The live demo shows it with sample visitors.
